We tried to do a whole run through for Rent but only got to the end of the first act. There where more problems than we first anticipated but it was the first time we had performed with the band and the first time doing a whole show run so its was not so bad. For me I felt it went well overall. I remembered all my lines and sung all my songs reasonably well and so I am somewhat confident when it comes to Act one at least. Though I do need some help with my movements and choreography, so I will ask Kat for help with that, especially One Song Glory as I just walk around the space at the moment and need some actual choreography.
It was also the first time we hand rehearsed with the full set and scaffolding which added some complications as things we had initially planned now didn't work as we had intended. For some scene the scaffolding was in the way or it forced a character to stand in a different place. We over came these problems by simply trying out different options and ideas for example we decided that I should sing the final lines of One Song Glory at the top of Mark and Rogers flat... it made it more atmospheric and dramatic doing so.
Overall though despite the difficulty of working with the band for the first time and working with the scaffolding it went okay and with more rehearsals and polish it should be perfect. The songs are sounding great so far and the feel and vibe of the musical seems spot on, especially now due to the scaffolding that makes the whole thing feel more urban and edgy.
After this rehearsal I shall work on my movements and choreography and become 100% positive on my lines ready for when we rehearse act 2.
