James,
you were able to explain how the original staging and themes would have been
relevant to the contemporary audience of the day. You have demonstrated
understanding of how the audiences would have received the original staging
and understood the characters in the plays. I liked the way you gave an
example of the human condition and how we are never satisfied! I think you
tackled many of the main points but could have gone further and included the
relevance of some of the political themes both then and now to further
illustrate your understanding.
Your practical approaches to the rehearsal and
development process took on the significance of the play’s language, as well
as its context.
Your performances communicated your characters well
with clear evidence that your use of vocal and movement techniques supported
your intentions.
James,
you worked so hard on this project with such pleasing results. You embraced
the challenge of both texts and responded with such focus to every piece of
directorial advice given. You made a strong impact in an important central
role, ensuring that the production maintained pace and clarity – well done.
